Top of the Yard, the exciting new rooftop lounge at the Hampton Inn Washington DC – Navy Yard has opened and the word is getting out. The outdoor lounge and event venue, showcasing a casual menu of ballpark inspired specialties and one of the most unique views in Washington DC was recently mentioned by the Washington Post in their What’s New at Nationals Park 2016 feature. Here is what they had to say about Top of the Yard.
“Washingtonians go crazy for rooftop bars, and only one in the city can offer a view straight into Nationals Park: the Top of the Yard lounge at the Hampton Inn. From a couch or all-weather lounge chair, guests can look past the parking garages and the roof of the Bud Light Loft to see all of the infield, most of right field and a sliver of center. (A large video monitor above the Budweiser Scoreboard Walk shows all replays in case you miss something.) You might not want to watch a whole game from a block away, but would be a great place to watch warmups or batting practice before heading to the park. (Doors open at 5 p.m. most days, and earlier when there’s an afternoon game.)
The lounge itself is a fine place to hang out: monuments and cranes are visible in all directions from the communal table or groups of chairs. The beer list is short and honestly not much different than inside the park – Goose Island IPA, Bud, Shock Top, with a pint of Goose Island for $7 – while the menu contains riffs on ballpark fare, including half smokes, a Chicago-style hot dog, and soft pretzel.”
